Meditation Garden

Small signs throughout the ITC grounds and Besant Hall provide brief descriptions of notable places and objects. Further information is available here.

In the early years of the estate, when it was still privately owned, this area was designated the kitchen garden, supplying fresh vegetables to the residents of what is now St. Michael’s House. In the seventies it provided produce for Sattvika, the vegetarian restaurant on the ITC, housed in what is now the Ashrama.

In later years this garden was transformed into a place for quiet reflection and spiritual renewal. To encourage meditation, small statues of Our Lady, St. Francis, and the Buddha have been arranged in a triangle. In this place of tranquility in nature, all differences are reconciled and Unity is the keynote.
