Small signs throughout the ITC grounds and Besant Hall provide brief descriptions of notable places and objects. Further information is available here.
In the Besant Hall a large bust (made after 2010) can be found of Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (1831-1891) who founded the Theosophical Society in 1875, together with H. S. Olcott. For a biography go to https://www.ts-adyar.org/helena-petrovna-blavatsky-1831-1891
Helena Petrovna Blavatsky was perhaps the greatest western occultist and messenger of recent times. She introduced and adapted the Ancient Wisdom to suit the modern age.
Do we see a raised eyebrow at our use of ‘recent times’ and ‘modern age’? Understandably, but the wisdom shared by Blavatsky is of such a nature that it transcends many generations.
