Hij noemde deze methode de ‘Vierde Weg’. In ons dagelijks leven worden we vaak geleefd door verschillende ‘ikken’ waarmee we ons identificeren en die ons vertellen hoe we moeten handelen. We leven vaak niet bewust\, maar handelen op de automatische piloot. Hoe kunnen we hier los van komen en meer gaan leven vanuit onze essentie\, ons ware Ik? SUMMARY:Retreat: Initiation with Kurt Leland
DESCRIPTION:Initiation is one of the most intriguing and mysterious subjects encountered among the teachings of the Theosophical Society\, suggesting that there are various steps and stages by which to gauge our spiritual development. Yet\, historically\, such teachings have been among the most likely to be misunderstood and misused and the least likely to affect our daily lives in any practical or recognizable way. \nAfter earlier successful and much appreciated seminars by Kurt Leland on our Centre\, Kurt suggested to us to discover and discuss the subject of initiation in a 4-day programme. We are happy to organise this with him. \nIn the morning programs\, we will examine the subject of Initiation from several perspectives. First\, we will probe the term itself\, looking into its various uses and meanings to come up with a working definition. Next\, we will examine the subject of “Initiation Then\,” covering the teachings presented in the Mahatma Letters and the writings of H. P. Blavatsky\, as well as those of Annie Besant (The Masters) and Charles W. Leadbeater (The Masters and the Path). \nIn “Two Paths or Three?\,” we will investigate the frequently described “Path of the Mystic” and “Path of the Occultist” and probe the question of whether there might be a third path. It seems that Mystics are drawn to develop the Will (Atman) and Omniscience; Empaths to develop the Heart (Buddhi) and Omnipresence; and Seers or Occultists to develop the Mind (Manas) and Omniscience. \n“Initiation Now” will discuss ways to make Theosophical teachings on Initiation relevant to our daily lives by cultivating what Besant called “The Mind of the Master.” \nIn the afternoon\, we will participate in workshop/discussions designed to make practical the theories of Initiation presented each morning: “A Basic Spiritual Practice\,” “The Three Ladders; Powers and Laws\, Beings and Needs\, Bodies and Planes\,” and “The Dedicated Life: Discovering Our Personal Path toward ‘The Mind of the Master.’” On the final day\, we will learn a more advanced spiritual practice that can support us in living in a spiritually dedicated life: “The Temple of Serenity.” \nThis is an experiential program\, involving periods of discussion\, questions and answer\, and meditation. On two of the evenings\, there will be a special program entitled “In the Twilight\,” whose purpose is to create a safe space for building community through sharing our inner lives\, experiences on our personal spiritual paths\, whether mystical\, empathic\, visionary\, or otherwise. On the final evening\, we will delve into the story and music of Wagner’s opera\, Parsifal\, as a drama of Initiation. This presentation will be based on a beautiful set of magic lantern slides from 1912 discovered in the archives of the Theosophical Society in America. \nLet it be clear that this program focuses on Theosophical teachings about Initiation as a means of self-exploration and development; no ceremonies will be conducted and no Initiations conferred. \n\nKurt Leland\npublished nine books on subjects such as astral projection\, the afterlife\, the chakras\, and the spiritual effects of composing\, performing\, and listening to music. Vroeg of laat wordt iedereen zelf of in de omgeving met het aanstaande levenseinde geconfronteerd. In deze 2-daagse interactieve workshop word je langs diverse paden van leven en sterven geleid\, die gelieerd zijn aan de kringloop van de ziel. Er is veel gelegenheid tot uitwisseling. Soms kan een en ander confronterend zijn\, dan is er opvang aanwezig. \nProgramma: \nHoofdthema’s zijn: \n\nHet spirituele pad (met veel theosofische en Tibetaans-boeddhistische inzichten)\nHet emotionele pad (waarneming en verwerking van emotionele fasen.)\nHet praktische pad (do’s en don’ts)\n\nLeerdoelen: \n\nKrijg inzicht in de spirituele aspecten van de kringloop van de ziel\nKrijg handvatten aangereikt om de zorg die je gaat geven te vergemakkelijken\nKrijg hulp om het communiceren met mensen rond zo’n proces makkelijker te maken\nLeer bewust te worden van de emoties rond het stervensproces\n\nPraktische zaken\nDeze workshops vragen om een kleinschalige aanpak met een maximum van 20 deelnemers. Iedere deelnemer krijgt een mooie hand-out en een deelnamecertificaat uitgereikt. \nOrganisatie\, Stichting Lumen\nLumen is een stichting voor spirituele stervensbegeleiding. De stichting begeleidt betrokkenen (zieke en omgeving) bij hun mentale en spirituele welbevinden in de laatste levensfase en heeft een grote expertise opgebouwd met betrekking tot thema’s rond het sterven. De medewerkers zijn veelal gecertificeerd bij het Nederlands Instituut voor Stervensbegeleiding. In deze opleiding wordt veel aandacht besteed aan het Tibetaans boeddhisme rond het thema sterven. De door deskundigen van Lumen in 2015 ontwikkelde workshop is in de loop van de jaren aangepast en inmiddels zijn er esoterische en theosofische elementen in opgenomen. \nDe cursus wordt gegeven door Alice Majoor (stervensbegeleider) en Parcival van Gessel (stervensbegeleider en bisschop in de Vrij Katholieke Kerk). DESCRIPTION:In het voorjaar van 2024 kwam van Wim van de Laar (1961) bij uitgeverij Samsara Bronnen van Yoga uit\, een nieuwe vertaling van en toelichting op de Yoga-Sutra’s van Patañjali\, mét het commentaar van Vyasa\, de Sankhya Karika van Ishvarakrishna\, en de Bhagavad Gita. Het is voor het eerst dat deze teksten op deze manier met elkaar in verband worden gebracht. Bovendien is een deel ervan nooit eerder in het Nederlands vertaald. Eerder verscheen zijn vertaling van De Upanishads\, de bronteksten van het hindoeïsme. \nWim: “Ik ben erg blij met het resultaat van dit grote werk en vanuit die liefde ga ik er graag mee de wereld in. Ook omdat de filosofische kant van yoga (en de praktijk dáárvan) zo weinig\nin de aandacht komt te staan\, in tegenstelling tot de puur lichamelijke beoefening. Terwijl hij zo’n enorme rijkdom aan kennis en wijsheid herbergt.” \n“Wat mij […] boeit\, is het dichtbij brengen van de soms wat abstracte en intellectuele aspecten van de yogafilosofie. Dat je heel levendig en direct ervaart wat bijvoorbeeld onwetendheid is\, of vrijheid\, of gehechtheid; wat het is om waarachtig jezelf en vervuld te zijn. DESCRIPTION:Vereniging Leerproject nodigt je graag uit voor een bijzondere bijeenkomst die op zaterdagmiddag 19 oktober van 14.00 tot 17.00 uur op het ITC in Naarden zal plaatsvinden; op deze middag gaan we met elkaar aan de slag met wat Krishnamurti over tijd heeft gezegd en wat het element tijd in beweging en dans bij ons oproept. Daartoe zullen we eerst met elkaar een aantal citaten van Krishnamurti lezen. En\, daarna gaan we bewegen. Deze reis is in detail voor iedereen verschillend\, maar de kaart is voor alle mensen dezelfde. Het mensbeeld\, vroeger vaak genoemd “de zevenvoudige samenstelling van de mens”\, komt voort uit de esoterische traditie van eeuwige wijsheid\, en hierin is dan ook een grote wijsheid verborgen. The cybernetic revolution\, which has helped us to move spectacularly beyond the linear functioning of the human mind\, reveals another\, quieter\, less visible but equally well-established revolution: the ethical revolution. \nIndeed\, all over the planet\, humans are increasingly awakening to empathy and compassion. While the world population continues to be carnivorous\, enormous efforts are in movement to save animal species from the killing perpetrated by insensitive humans. \nAs part of the evolutionary impulse\, empathy grows in the human species. This inevitable development leads the most sensitive humans towards an awareness of universal suffering. This empathy is like a deep wave\, born from the bottom of the ocean of compassion. It grows steadily\, surreptitiously\, until it sweeps away everything that prevents humans from being truly human. \nAs we try to navigate our way through these challenging times\, we are following the words of the Ancients\, who taught us that the occultist is the one who learns to recognize the right moment to act. It is in this spirit that the retreat takes place as an opportunity to reinforce this wave of benevolence and bring it to its real aim\, which is to lead human consciousness to the heights of the mind\, and beyond\, at the edge of the realization of the Oneness of Life. DESCRIPTION:Zomerschool Theosofische Vereniging in Nederland\nSpiritualiteit in deze tijd\nVrijdag 7 tot en met dinsdag 11 juni 2024 \nIn juni dit jaar wordt een Nederlandse zomerschool georganiseerd \nNooit eerder is het aantal impulsen dat op ons afkomt zo groot geweest. Nooit eerder beschikten we over zo veel informatie via de diverse media over politiek\, wetenschap\, filosofie\, et cetera. We worden hierdoor dagelijks uitgedaagd om het evenwicht te bewaren\, om het goede\, het ware en het schone achter de verschijnselen te herkennen. Deze zijn met elkaar verbonden. Het schone is de zichtbare uitdrukking van het ware\, zoals het goede zich laat zien door het schone in actie. De dagelijkse impulsen zijn echter vaak tegenstrijdig\, er is veel ruis. Dit vraagt om evenwichtskunsten in ons bewustzijn. \nOp zich is dit geen nieuw proces. De wijsheidstraditie\, waar de Theosofische Vereniging bij uitstek een exponent van is\, heeft zich altijd bezig gehouden met de verschillende aspecten van bewustzijn en hun onderlinge samenhang. Hoe bijvoorbeeld angst\, emotie\, begeerte\, die ieder hun eigen waarde hebben\, de meer spirituele\, vrij makende aspecten van het bewustzijn in de weg staan. \nTijdens de zomerschool willen we samen onderzoeken hoe spiritualiteit een bijdrage kan leveren om andere antwoorden te vinden voor de uitdagingen van deze tijd\, hoe we hier in ons dagelijks leven mee om kunnen gaan. SUMMARY:Cursus Analytisch Idealisme
DESCRIPTION:Analytisch Idealisme en Theosofie\nDrie bijeenkomsten aan de hand van video’s van Bernardo Kastrup. \nDe fysisch-materialistische wetenschap is een grens gepasseerd. Vooral de deeltjesfysica (quantumfysica) is voorbij een grens gegaan van wat men aanvankelijk materie noemde. Wat voorbij die grens werd gevonden\, werd benoemd en geduid zoals men in het materialistische denken gewend was. Bijvoorbeeld wordt het woord deeltje gegeven aan iets wat geen deeltje meer is. Wat betreft het woord golf: de wetenschap blijkt niet goed te kunnen uitleggen “wat” er precies “golft”. Wetenschappers zouden consequenties kunnen trekken uit wat is ontdekt\, en hun denkwijze en visie hieraan kunnen aanpassen. \nDat zou een hele omwenteling van onze visie op de realiteit kunnen betekenen. Zo’n alternatieve visie kennen we al wel\, namelijk uit niet-westerse culturen\, vooral in het oosten. Ook uit westers idealisme en mystiek kennen we zulke alternatieve visies. Blijven we trouw aan onze moderne manier van denken\, van empirisch onderzoek\, logica en rede dan kom je op het spoor van metafysisch idealisme\, een niet-materialistische zienswijze. \nEén van de vormen van metafysisch idealisme zullen we in deze bijeenkomsten samen bestuderen. Het analytisch idealisme van Bernardo Kastrup is een filosofie die zijn basis heeft in het moderne wetenschappelijke denken\, maar het materialisme\nkritiseert en uiteindelijk overstijgt. Boeiend en verrassend is het\, te zien dat deze visie als twee druppels water lijkt op alternatieve oosterse visies en esoterische kennis van duizenden jaren oud. In de video’s van Bernardo Kastrup wordt dit aspect\nniet specifiek benoemd\, maar in de drie bijeenkomsten kunnen we die vergelijking wel aan bod laten komen. \nDeze drie bijeenkomsten\nPer mail kun je aangeven dat je interesse hebt om deel te nemen. Je krijgt dan de links van de video’s plus Nederlandstalige transcripten per mail toegestuurd. Per bijeenkomst behandelen we de stof van drie of vier video’s. De locatie van de\nbijeenkomsten is gebouw Ashrama (en St Michael’s House) op het landgoed van het Internationaal Theosofisch Centrum in Naarden. Meedoen betekent dat je voorafgaand aan de bijeenkomst een aantal video’s thuis bekijkt\, waarna we dan\ntijdens de bijeenkomst met elkaar de ideeën verder kunnen onderzoeken. \nDaarnaast kunnen we samen onderzoeken waar en hoe deze nieuwe filosofie te vergelijken is met de oude wijsheid en de ideeën van eigentijdse spirituele bewegingen. Hoe zouden deze ogenschijnlijk zeer verschillende vormen elkaar kunnen inspireren? \nToegankelijkheid\nOm deel te nemen hoef je geen natuurkundige te zijn. Het materiaal wordt in de video’s luchtig vanuit een gemakkelijke stoel besproken. We kunnen daardoor zo laagdrempelig mogelijk met deze nieuwe filosofie kennismaken. Voor spiritueel\ngeïnteresseerden kan dit materiaal een eerste stap vormen tot een op modern denken gebaseerde manier van kijken naar de werkelijkheid. Wat betreft de kosten voor deelname: hierin wordt voorzien door de Theosofische Vereniging in Nederland\, zodat aan deelnemers alleen een vrijwillige bijdrage wordt gevraagd. \nOverpeinzen\, mijmeren/mediteren en onderling uitwisselen\nOnze hersenen moeten de tijd krijgen te wennen aan de nieuwe breinpaden. We ontdekken tijdens de studie wellicht dat we\, zonder het ons te realiseren\, ondanks onze spirituele interesse vaak toch steunen op materialistisch denken. Een nieuwe datum zal dan nader bepaald worden. \nDe Theosofische Vereniging in Nederland (TVN) organiseert in samenwerking met de Stichting Lumen een tweedaagse workshop rond leven en sterven. Vroeg of laat wordt iedereen zelf of in de omgeving met het aanstaande levenseinde geconfronteerd. In deze 2-daagse interactieve workshop word je langs diverse paden van leven en sterven geleid\, die gelieerd zijn aan de kringloop van de ziel. Er is veel gelegenheid tot uitwisseling. De stichting begeleidt betrokkenen (zieke en omgeving) bij hun mentale en spirituele welbevinden in de laatste levensfase en heeft een grote expertise opgebouwd met betrekking tot thema’s rond het sterven. De medewerkers zijn veelal gecertificeerd bij het Nederlands Instituut voor Stervensbegeleiding. In deze opleiding wordt veel aandacht besteed aan het Tibetaans boeddhisme rond het thema sterven. De door deskundigen van Lumen in 2015 ontwikkelde workshop is in de loop van de jaren aangepast en inmiddels zijn er esoterische en theosofische elementen in opgenomen. \nDe cursus wordt gegeven door Alice Majoor(stervensbegeleider) en Parcival van Gessel (stervensbegeleider en bisschop in de Vrij Katholieke Kerk). Er zit veel meer in dan zo op het eerste gezicht lijkt. Deze kennis te koppelen\naan het idee van evolutie is zeer vruchtbaar\, en geeft diep inzicht. In onze tijd is vrijwel helemaal vergeten dat\ner ook nog een ander rijk is\, met een parallelle evolutie\, met voor ons onzichtbare bewoners. Dit wordt vaak\nniet geloofd\, eerder ontkend en bespot. Ook dit rijk van de Deva’s doorloopt zijn eigen evolutie\, en is\nonontbeerlijk voor het leven op onze aarde. \n15.30 Wandeling over het terrein met Parcival\, Arend en Wim \nTijdens de wandeling proberen we om ons meer bewust te worden van het energetische aanzicht van het terrein\, waar de zichtbare natuur in contact staat met de onzichtbare Deva\nwereld. SUMMARY:Kerstavond op het ITC: De terugkeer van het licht
DESCRIPTION:In de esoterische traditie gaan alle verhalen over onszelf. Zo ook het kerstverhaal\, dat vertelt over de (weder)geboorte van het licht\, het heilige in onszelf. Na iedere periode van naar buiten gaan\, van ervaringen opdoen\, is er een periode van rust\, van innerlijke reflectie\, zodat er ruimte ontstaat. In die ruimte kan het licht weer in ons terugkeren. Dat is de symboliek achter het kerstverhaal. \nHet is mooi om samen stil te staan bij dit jaarlijks terugkerende symbolische moment. DESCRIPTION:De ontwikkeling van het menselijk bewustzijn in relatie met maatschappelijke ontwikkelingen \nDe spirituele ontwikkelingen in onze binnenwereld\, en de maatschappelijke ontwikkelingen in de buitenwereld worden heel sterk bepaald door het beeld van mens en wereld dat we erop nahouden. Indachtig het inzicht vanuit de Hermetische traditie -zo boven\, zo beneden-\, vallen mensbeeld en wereldbeeld samen. In de loop van de geschiedenis blijkt dat mens- en wereldbeeld in wezen hetzelfde te blijven en steeds weer opnieuw aan de oppervlakte te komen. Wat hetzelfde blijft is de menselijke aard\, de conditie waarin de mens zich bevindt als individu ten opzichte van de anderen en het andere\, en als een zowel fysiek als geestelijk wezen. Wat echter wel steeds verandert\, zowel in ons eigen leven als in de geschiedenis\, is de aandacht en de waarde die we aan die verschillende kwaliteiten geven en toekennen. Doordat we daarbij de sterke neiging hebben tot eenzijdigheid\, maken we van onszelf en van de wereld steeds weer een karikatuur. En die loopt vaak uit op een persoonlijke of maatschappelijke catastrofe. Om dat te voorkomen en meer ‘mens’ te worden moeten we leren het beweeglijke evenwicht tussen de fundamentele menselijke kwaliteiten te bewaren. \nIn de bijeenkomst van 29 april willen we dieper ingaan op de betekenis van dit mens- en wereldbeeld voor de maatschappelijke (ochtend) en voor de eigen spirituele ontwikkeling (middag).  Bij beide onderwerpen worden inleidingen gegeven door Klaas van Egmond\, waarna er veel ruimte is voor verdieping in gespreksgroepen.  \nKlaas van Egmond is hoogleraar geowetenschappen (in het bijzonder milieukunde en duurzaamheid) aan de Universiteit Utrecht. Blavatsky wrote it in 1889 while in London and may have finalised it during her visit to Fontainebleau. The booklet can be considered a manual for mystics\, offering guidance during spiritual awakening. William James called The Voice of the Silence a Musical composition. In mystical writings the call to “hear” or “listen” is “a password to mystical regions\,” indicating a shift to a higher state of consciousness. He continues to speak internationally on Theosophical Themes and Teachings.\nHe is also currently engaged in completing a work for possible publication concerning Ideas relating to the practical\, complex and philosophical aspects of Karma. \nJacques Mahnich spent his professional carrier in Aeronautical Engineering Industry. Specialized in electronics and real-time controls\, he was involved in many advanced projects in aeronautics as a designer\, manager and director. This period of experience provided me with a strong impulse toward learning and mastering the understanding of our material world\, especially relativity and quantum physics. He joined the French T.S. in 1978\, where he was active in the Marseilles Lodges for years\, and then in Paris. He is a recognized international lecturer\, delivering School of the Wisdom (Adyar)\, Schools of Theosophy and lectures in many places worldwide.\nIn 2014\, he launched a web-based Project http://theoscience.org \, dedicated to the monitoring and analysis of scientific articles which have some relevance with the Wisdom Traditions teachings. This project publishes a quarterly review “Researches Relevant to Theosophy”. Building bridges between Science and Traditions is one of his main focuses and activity. \nIngmar de Boer (1966) has been a member of the TS since 1989\, most of the time as an active lodge member. Since 2008 he has lived and worked at the International Theosophical Centre at Naarden\, The Netherlands. At the moment he is chairman of the Naarden Annie Besant Lodge and vice-chairman of the Dutch Section. Areas of study most close to his heart are The Secret Doctrine\, especially the first volume\, and the origin of the Book of Dzyan and\, in line with that\, Indo-Tibetan Buddhism and Sanskrit.\nAstrology and its esoteric background have been another one of his interests\, and over the years he has written a number of articles on most of these topics and has given many lectures and courses. Together with David Reigle and Jacques Manich\, he initiated a website presenting research articles on the origin of the Book of Dzyan. \n  \n \nDr. Tim Rudbøg is an associate professor at the University of Copenhagen and director of The Copenhagen Center for the Study of Theosophy and Esotericism sponsored by the Blavatsky Trust. Rudbøg is a trained historian of religions and has for over twenty years had an interest in Theosophy. His current major research project is focused on Blavatsky’s The Secret Doctrine and intellectual history and builds on his prize winning PhD thesis from the University of Exeter\, which was dedicated to the study of the major themes in H. President of the Centro Lusitano de Unificação Cultural\, where three volumes of texts by Helena Blavatsky\, have been published for the first time in Portuguese. SUMMARY:Tijdens Engelen tiendaagse: uitleg-Mis vergelijking met Stem van de Stilte
DESCRIPTION:In de kapel van de Vrij Katholieke kerk op het Internationaal Theosofisch Centrum in Naarden wordt vanaf woensdag avond 21 september tot en met zaterdagochtend  1 oktober de Engelen tiendaagse gehouden\, ook wel Kingsweek genoemd. (Het Koninkrijk der Engelen) . \nElke avond is er om 19.30 een Heilig Lof en in de ochtenden om 10.30 een Heilige Mis\, waarbij Engelenmeditaties gedaan worden. Enkele van deze dagen hebben dit jaar een bijzonder landelijk karakter. \nEr zijn al een tijdje vragen naar een “uitleg-Mis”. Door Bisschop Parcival van Gessel wordt zaterdag 24 september tegelijkertijd met het opdragen van de Heilige Mis uitleg gegeven over allerlei stadia in de Mis en wat je er mee kunt doen. De samenwerking met de Engelen wordt hierbij niet vergeten. De stadia binnen de Heilige Mis zouden vergeleken kunnen worden met de stadia genoemd in het boek “De Stem van de Stilte” van H.P. Blavatsky. \nDe ochtend begint om 10.30 en eindigt ca 12.30. Daarna is er een lunch waarbij soep geserveerd wordt en je je eigen meegebrachte broodje kunt opeten. Er is dan genoeg tijd voor uitwisseling met elkaar. \nOm 14.00 uur zal Priester Piet Standaar een inleiding houden over de “Alchemie in de Heilige Mis”. Een korte uitleg hierover volgt hieronder. De dag wordt afgesloten met een Heilig Lof aan het eind van de middag. Dit is een unieke kans om kennis te nemen van de VKK en de werking van de Heilige Eucharistie en wat je ermee in je leven kunt doen. \nHet alchemistische proces in de H. Mis. \nDe essentie van het woord ‘altaar’ is de plaats waar een omvorming (= transformatie) plaats vindt van de ouwel en wijn in Lichaam en Bloed van Christus door het vuur van een (alchemistische) oven. Eigenlijk spreken we bij deze omvorming over de transsubstantiatie. Dit kan vertaald worden met het brengen van de oorspronkelijke materie naar een vorm die de oorspronkelijke staat overstijgt. Het wordt dan naar een hogere vorm van ontwikkeling gebracht. \nDe transformatie of omvorming vindt plaats door het vuur in de oven. Dit vuur is tijdens het rituaal van onze H. Mis duidelijk aanwezig. Hoewel het wierookvat tijdens de H. Mis veelvuldig wordt gebruikt\, is een belangrijk moment als de transsubstantiatie plaatsvindt tijdens de consecratie. Met het wierookvat wordt in zekere zin een oven van vuur (een alchemistische oven) gebouwd waarbinnen\, in het centrum\, de transsubstantiatie zich zal voltrekken. \nMgr. Leadbeater schrijft daarover: “Het is uiteraard onmogelijk ten volle een proces te begrijpen\, waarbij werelden betrokken zijn\, hoger dan wij kunnen bereiken: maar ten opzichte van hetgeen\, plaatsvindt binnen het bereik van helderziende waarnemingen\, bestaat er geen mogelijkheid van vergissing”\nPr. Piet Standaar \nIedereen is van harte uitgenodigd om deze dag bij te wonen\, Een dagdeel is natuurlijk ook mogelijk. Het is prettig als je even aangeeft dat je van plan bent te komen. \nEr zijn geen kosten aan deze dag verbonden. Er is wel een collecte aan het eind van de ochtendmis. DESCRIPTION:Trân-Thi-Kim-Diêu earned a post-graduate degree from Montpellier University (France) in Pharmaceutical Engineering whereas she was working in the area of foam\, then on homeopathy related with biochronology. \nShe trained herself on human psychology with applied astrology\, amounting to counselling in life orientation. Currently chairperson of the Council of the European Federation of the Theosophical Society (EFTS)\, Kim-Diêu is former chairperson of the Naarden ITC Council and former General Secretary of the French Section of the Theosophical Society (Adyar). \nShe gives lectures\, courses\, and seminars\, and coordinates spiritual silent retreats on the Ageless Wisdom in a great number of countries\, showing that spiritual life cannot be separated from ethical daily living and meditation. SUMMARY:Exploring the Powers latent in Humankind
DESCRIPTION:Research has shown that 51% of population in western countries have had exceptional experiences\, such as clairvoyance\, telepathy\, lucid dreams\, near-death experiences\, contact with deceased and mystical or spiritual experiences. As exceptional as these experiences may be\, from a sociological point of view they are quite normal. They are not only part of the postmodern world in which we live\, but also of the Wisdom Traditions of all cultures. Investigating these experiences has been one of the objects of the Theosophical Society since its foundation in 1875. During a two-year programme of Seminars and Study Days\, new insights in science\, religion\, philosophy and therapy are being presented. During Dutch language Study Days\, a broad range of unusual experiences are being explored. The 2020 International Seminar aims to give an overview of several of the most important scientific developments in this field. \nExceptional Experiences\nExceptional experiences may occur when the common limitations of time and space of the personality fall away\, after which unknown territory is entered. As a result\, enhanced ideas on humankind\, life\, psyche or cosmos can emerge at different levels. They can emerge spontaneously\, or are the result of specific preparations\, spiritual or otherwise. Often\, they are an enrichment of the personal life\, but can also be meaningless\, sensational or frightening\, thus even creating problems. Insight is required to be able to test\, evaluate and integrate these experiences\nin the personal life. This insight is not only important for those undergoing these experiences\, but certainly also for professional spiritual counsellors\, psychiatrists and psychologists\, being faced with related questions. \nExceptional Experiences and Latent powers\nSome experiences\, such as clairvoyance\, are the result of latent powers which can present themselves spontaneously. Other powers are being gradually developed. The Wisdom Traditions make clear that only those powers are wholesome which are the natural result of an inner transformation. This is a gradual process. Forcing of such is not advisable and can even be dangerous. \nThe Programme\nThe International Seminar aims to inform and give an overview of several of the most important scientific developments that are placed in the rational structures of science and the Wisdom Traditions. Theosophy Offers a Safe Environment to Investigate These Issues Theosophy\, or Divine Wisdom\, is hidden knowledge or knowledge of the hidden. Anything observed by the senses has also a hidden depth. The surface of subjects\, their external horizon\, is just the boundary. The development of spiritual intuition is necessary to achieve a synthesis between inner and outer. Latent abilities manifest themselves in a wide variety of extraordinary experiences. This is happening en masse in our Western society. These experiences often lie at the heart of our culture\, in religion\, philosophy\, science and art. In addition\, they can also be dangerous and ask for in-depth research. \n  \n10.20 Experience and Integration\nTim Boyd (President Theosophical Society) \nParanormal and mystical experiences are a natural occurrence among people. Because these experiences lie outside of what we accept as “normal”\, they can be unsettling\, and exist as\nforeign bodies\, fragmenting our sense of self. What is their role in unfoldment? And how can we integrate them into our consciousness? \n  \n11.15 Challenge to Mainstream Psychology: Integrating the Transpersonal\nProf. em. dr. David Lukoff (Sofia University (Formerly Institute of Transpersonal Psychology). Founder\, Spiritual Competency Academy)\nDuring its 50-year history\, transpersonal psychology’s challenging stance has kept it on the margins of academia. Yet this small movement has helped legitimate spiritual and exceptional experiences as important areas of inquiry in psychology. It has also pioneered the inclusion in therapy of a client’s spiritual and exceptional experiences\, strengths\, and conflicts as well as altered state of consciousness experiences. \n12.10 Lunch. For Day visitors: bring your own sandwiches \n  \n13.30 The Magic of Zarathustra’s Eyes of the Heart\nDr. Ann van Sevenant (PhD Philosophy Brussels)\, author of “Thus Replied Zarathustra” (Mimesis International\, 2020) and of twenty books on philosophy in Dutch\, French\, English\, Italian. She taught Philosophy at the University College of Antwerp (Belgium)\, and she is an international guest speaker and independent researcher).\nThe Persian thinker Zarathustra highlighted the potential of the human mind and heart to connect to the inner space and cosmic universe. This latent capacity is activated by the “eyes of the heart” and transforms itself in an intuitive understanding. This process of growing interconnection between mental and bodily experiences allows us to develop our connectivity with the world and with others. \n  \n14.25 Exceptional powers and presences. Questions about their reality from an intercultural perspective\nDr. Angela Roothaan (VU Amsterdam\, focuses in her research on African intercultural philosophy and spirit ontologies. Recent book: Indigenous\, Modern and Postcolonial Relations to Nature. Negotiating the Environment (Routledge 2019).\nStories of exceptional powers and presences can be found in all cultures. These cultures however value them very differently – as subjective claims or as shared realities. Is it possible to gain a shared intercultural understanding of such powers and presences?\nHow would such an understanding make us see ourselves: as rational animals\, as spiritual beings\, or a spirited animal? \n15.15 Tea break \n  \n 15.45 Alterations of consciousness and expanded human capabilities. Fact and fiction \nEtzel Cardeña (Ph. D.\, holds the Thorsen Chair at Lund University. His research focuses on altered consciousness. His more than 400 publications include Varieties of Anomalous Experience and Altered Consciousness)\nAltered consciousness has been linked to enhanced functioning. Some proposals lack empirical support\, but others do. Studies on meditation\, hypnosis\, sensory homogenization\, psychoactive drug ingestion\, and spontaneous alterations of consciousness show their potential to enhance physiological (e.g.\, control of somatic systems) and psychological (e.g.\, perceptual sensitivity) functioning. Painting can be described as the quest for Beauty and Truth. The spontaneous emission of a human shows a common anatomic pattern. Those affected experience and suffer this “first hand”. Without reconciliation of the world views (magical and scientific) and without mutual understanding\, there is no end to uncertainty and suffering. The concepts of entanglement and embodiment may serve. \n  \n14.10 Inspiration and original experience\nDr Rico Sneller\, (has been teaching philosophy at the universities of Utrecht\, Leiden\, and Eindhoven. His research focuses on the philosophical reception of exceptional)\nInspiration is an original yet latent human experience. It should be associated with what Plato describes as ‘Eros’. Philosophy and art are greatly determined by the original experience of inspiration or Eros. But what is this ‘Eros’? Is it a cosmic power which exclusively expresses itself in bodies? Or is it a purely spiritual power?\nOr (3rd possibility) does it make sense at all to distinguish here between ‘body’ and ‘spirit’ as separate entities? \n15.05 tea break \n  \n15.25 Spiritual Powers Latent in Humankind.\nTran-Thi-Kim-Diêu\, (post-graduate from Montpellier University (France) in Pharmaceutical Engineering. Chairperson of the Theosophical Society in Europe\, gives programmes including spiritual silent retreats on the Ageless Wisdom in many countries\, showing that spiritual life cannot be separated from ethical daily living and meditation).\nA human being is part of the process of evolution\, interacting with the whole Universe of which reflection on its manifested ‘side’\, its ‘other side’\, and its real structure will be exposed. SUMMARY:International gathering of young theosophists: 'Treading the Path to Self-Transformation'
DESCRIPTION:From 3rd to 7th June 2022 an International gathering of young theosophists will take place at the International Theosophical Centre (ITC) Naarden (The Netherlands). A team of young members from Europe are coordinating the event that is organized under the auspices of the ITC and the EFTS and sponsored by both\, together with a number of Sections in Europe. \nTim Boyd\nVicente Hao Chin Jr.\nThe gathering will focus on the theme “Treading the Path to Self-Transformation”\, a relevant topic that deals with the process of self-awareness and the spiritual life. During this conference\, young members will have the opportunity to discuss and share their views with guest speakers Tim Boyd\, the International President\, and Vicente Hao Chin Jr.\, former President of the Philippines’ Section and Indo-Pacific Federation.
