DESCRIPTION:“Als twee vrienden”\nzittend op een bankje onder een boom in het park \nEen opera over het ongelooflijke leven en werk van Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986). Nieuwe voorstelling op 18\, 19\, 20 en 21 juni 2025. \nJiddu Krishnamurti werd op 13 jarige leeftijd “ontdekt” door de destijds beroemde theosoof Leadbeater\, toen hij en zijn broertje op een strand in India speelden. Leadbeater zag in hem de nieuwe wereldleraar\, die de mensheid op een hoger niveau zou brengen. Twintig jaar lang werd Krishnamurti klaargestoomd voor die rol en reisde hij naar alle continenten om getoond te worden aan zijn toekomstig publiek. In 1929 zou hij officieel de rol van Wereldleraar aanvaarden tijdens een zomerkamp in Ommen waar duizenden mensen van over de hele wereld toegestroomd waren. Hij hield daar zijn beroemde toespraak “Waarheid is een land zonder pad”\, waarin hij afstand nam van het wereldleraarschap en de organisatie die om hem heen was gebouwd ontbond. Hij benadrukte het belang van individueel zelfstandig onderzoek en het verwerpen van welke vooronderstellingen dan ook. Tot aan zijn dood in 1986 heeft hij bijna continu de wereld rond gereisd om voor volle zalen het belang van verregaand zelfonderzoek via vragen van toehoorders te tonen. \nDe opera bestaat uit 3 aktes. De teksten van bijna alle liederen/aria’s zijn nagenoeg letterlijk vertaalde en op rijm gezette historische fragmenten uit brieven\, lezingen en boeken van de hoofdpersonages in dit verhaal. \nDe opera biedt een kijkje in de extatische\, religieus geïnspireerde ervaringen van de theosofie aan het begin van de 20e eeuw\, de schok die de dood van zijn broer\, met wie Krishnamurti onafscheidelijk verbonden was\, veroorzaakte en de schoonheid en diepte van zijn waarneming. \nNaast eigen composities van Sadhu Bolland is er muziek van Arvo Pärt\, John Adams\, Barbara Fortuna\, Kate Bush\, Jagjit Singh\, Ola Gjeilo\, Georgy Sviridov\, Leonard Cohen\, Reynaldo Hahn\, Sting\, Philip Glass\, Astor Piazzolla en meer te horen. \nDe cast bestaat uit een koor van 18 mensen\, waarvan 8 solisten\, 3 dansers en 7 musici\, die piano\, cello\, altsax\, gitaar\, basgitaar\, vibrandoneon\, keyboards\, tabla\, dholak\, lyra\, tanpura\, ravast en claves bespelen. \n“Als twee vrienden” wordt in het Nederlands gezongen en boventiteld. \nLocatie:\nDe eerste 2 aktes zullen plaatsvinden in theater CC-Amstel\, de 3e akte vindt 100 meter tegenover het theater plaats\, in de monumentale theosofische tempel aan de Tolstraat in Amsterdam\, die precies honderd jaar geleden in 1925 gebouwd werd\, als één van de belangrijke plekken van waaruit Krishnamurti als wereldleraar zou spreken. \nKaartjes:\nU kunt kaartjes bestellen voor deze voorstelling komen door een mailtje te sturen met daarin het aantal kaarten en de avond van uw keuze\, naar: aadleeuw@outlook.com \nEen kaartje kost 25\,- euro. DESCRIPTION:Come and join us in the weekend of the 23rd of August to celebrate the 100th birthday of the ITC in a weekend full of inspiring talks\, music and dance and of course there will be cake! \nTwo festive days\nThe summer of 2025 will be a remarkable season in the history of the Theosophical Society (TS)\, with the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the TS\, at Vancouver\, Canada\, from 23 to 27 July. Following this\, an additional auspicious event will take place celebrating 100 years ITC Naarden\, the European home of the TS from 22 to 24 August. Tim Boyd\, the International President of the TS\, will be Keynote speaker\, leading a unique programme on different aspects of the history and work of the ITC. This special occasion provides an ideal opportunity for old and new European friends to meet and celebrate together. \nTim Boyd will open the programme with a reflection on the history of the TS and an outlook to its future\, followed by Arend Heijbroek on aspects of the history of the ITC. ITC is a learning organisation in its own right. It appears that the focus of the work changed in different periods\, which of course raises the question of what impulses may be expected for the future. And what remains central. \nOver lunch time there will be a festive gathering and presentation of new features at the centre. Following this\, Isolde Sültemeyer will talk about Rukmini Devi Arundale who was head of the ITC for over 50 years and share insights and discoveries about her connections with Rabindranath Tagore and Mrs. Mary van Eeghen\, who donated her estate to the theosophical society. Isolde\, who lives in Australia\, has compiled an extensive archive on Rukmini through much research in India and Europe. \nOne of the most visual aspects of Rukmini’s work was the development of the Bharatanatyam temple dance as an art form\, which was a revolutionary act at the time. Leela Samson\, one of her pupils and biographer\, will join us online from Adyar to elaborate on Rukmini’s role in reviving and elevating this ancient art form and help us gain a better understanding of its spiritual aspects. Bhavajan Kumar\, a talented and accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer\, will first demonstrate this art form\, highlighting the spiritual aspects\, followed by a performance. \nDuring the second day\, special attention will be paid to work and experience with finer energies. Tim Boyd will give an overview of the work of the different TS centres in the world\, each with their own unique role. Then Ingmar de Boer will explore the aspect of the Sacred in our consciousness and how that relates to what is Sacred in a place like the ITC. \nIn the afternoon\, Trân Thi Kim Diêu\, former chairman of ITC will chair a session\, where several TS officers will share some of their experiences in a sacred place\, such as ITC Naarden. In the early history of the ITC\, ceremonial work attracted the most attention. This has gradually changed. DESCRIPTION:Op zondag\, 31 augustus\, aan het einde van de zomermaand\, houden we een Old New School bijeenkomst in de Besant Hall op het landgoed van het ITC in Naarden. Tijdens de verschillende onderdelen van het programma (zie bijlage) kan men niet alleen kennismaken met het leven en werk van Vimala Thakar\, maar vooral ook met dat van onszelf. \nHoofdthema van het programma: Het leven als leraar | Life as Teacher \nHierbij ben je van harte uitgenodigd om deel te nemen aan deze speciale bijeenkomst. Het programma opent met een documentaire van Renata Keller die haar film als ondertitel meegaf ‘Reflections with Vimala Thakar’. De film – uitgebracht in mei 2020 – is Engels gesproken en ook in het Engels ondertiteld. In de loop van de middag – tijdens het tweede deel van het programma – gaan we dieper in op datgene wat we met elkaar hebben gehoord en gezien. DESCRIPTION:Deze kennismakingsdag is speciaal bedoeld voor nieuwe leden van de Theosofische Vereniging en belangstellenden. Er is in het programma veel ruimte voor onderlinge uitwisseling. \nTheosofen zijn allemaal verschillend in hun opvatting van praktische theosofie. Omdat elk wezen zijn eigen ontwikkelingsgang heeft\, kijkt iedereen immers vanuit verschillend perspectief. Hoe brengen theosofen hun ideeën over mens en wereld in praktijk? Welke verschillende opvattingen hebben ze\, en welke opvattingen hebben ze gemeenschappelijk? Welke universele principes kunnen we vinden in de esoterische leringen van de eeuwige wijsheid\, op basis waarvan we ons dagelijks leven vorm kunnen geven? \nProgramma \n10.00 Ontvangst met koffie/thee\n10.30 Inleiding Ingmar de Boer: Het theosofisch mensbeeld \nHet theosofisch mensbeeld kunnen we beschouwen als een landkaart voor onze reis op het spirituele pad. Deze reis is in detail voor iedereen verschillend\, maar de kaart is voor alle mensen dezelfde. Het mensbeeld\, vroeger vaak genoemd “de zevenvoudige samenstelling van de mens”\, komt voort uit de esoterische traditie van eeuwige wijsheid\, en in het mensbeeld is dan ook een grote wijsheid verborgen. DESCRIPTION:Lieve vrienden\, Theosofen\, Jong-Theosofen\, Tafelronde-leden en alle andere geïnteresseerden\, \nOp deze zaterdag 18 oktober om 10:30 celebreert bisschop Parcival van Gessel een “uitlegmis”. Dit gebeurt in de prachtig in het bos gelegen kapel van onze kerk op het Internationaal Theosofisch Centrum in Naarden. \nGaandeweg de Mis leidt Parcival je door allerlei momenten\, waarbij dan aandacht gegeven wordt aan de symboliek en ook wat de mis zelf en elementen van de Mis voor jouw persoonlijke levensweg kunnen betekenen. \nEr wordt gebruik gemaakt van het boekje “De stem van de Stilte” van H.P. Blavatsky.\nEen uniek boekje\, wat onze Mis ook in verbinding brengt met de Oosterse mystiek. \nMevr. Blavatsky is een van de grondleggers van de theosofie en heeft in het begin van die tijd van harte aanbevolen dat er een kerk zonder dogma’s zou moeten zijn\, die staat voor esoterisch Christendom en gnostiek. DESCRIPTION:Programma \n10.00 Ontvangst met koffie/thee\n10.30 Herbert van Erkelens\, lezing: Het alchemistische proces van transformatie \nOver de spreker\nHerbert van Erkelens (1952) is theoretisch fysicus en pionier in bewustzijn. Hij was jarenlang als docent alchemistische symboliek verbonden aan het Jungiaans Instituut te Nijmegen. Eind 2021 verscheen de tweede editie van zijn boek Wolfgang Pauli und der Geist der Materie dat de relatie tussen kwantumfysica\, alchemie en dieptepsychologie beschrijft. Hij is ook schrijver van een alchemistisch sprookje voor volwassenen: Joël en de verloren Graalprinses (2015). \nOver de lezing\nIn de alchemie staat een natuurlijk proces van transformatie centraal. Hierover heeft Carl Gustav Jung opgemerkt: ‘Door het inzicht in de alchemistische symboliek kwam ik tot het centrale begrip van mijn psychologie\, het individuatieproces.’ Een alchemist werkte in zijn laboratorium bij voorkeur met zijn soror mystica\, zijn mystieke zuster. Dan kon het hele proces drie fasen doorlopen die met de kleuren zwart\, wit en rood verbonden waren. Theoretisch fysicus Wolfgang Pauli doorliep deze fasen waarbij de geest der materie uit zijn dromen zich zeer kritisch toonde ten opzichte van de moderne natuurkunde. \n11.30 Pauze met koffie/thee\n12.00 Gespreksgroepen over het onderwerp van deze ochtend\n13.00 Lunch met soep (neem je eigen lunchpakketje mee)\n14.00 Elke Bussler\, lezing: Ontmoeting met Paracelsus \nOver de spreker\nElke Bussler werd geboren in Berlijn. Ze volgde een studie aan de Landbouwhogeschool Wageningen.\nNa 5 jaar in Zuid-Amerika volgde zij een vertaalopleiding. Ze maakte via de homeopathie kennis met Paracelsus\, en zette in 2003 uitgeverij De Woudezel op om de werken van Paracelsus in Nederlandse vertaling uit te geven. (www.woudezel.nl/Uitgeverij.html) \nOver de lezing\nParacelsus\, eigenlijk Theophrastus von Hohenheim\, leefde in de overgangstijd van de Middeleeuwen naar de Renaissance (1494–1541). Als universeel georiënteerd en compleet mens was hij van alles\, van alchemist tot zedenleraar. Maar in de eerste plaats was hij arts\, en alles wat hij verder nog was\, stond ten dienste aan dit arts-zijn. Zo ook zijn filosofie\, zijn astronomie\, zijn alchemie en zijn theologie. Hij was toxicoloog\, farmacoloog\, psychiater\, pionier op diverse gebieden van de geneeskunde\, en de grote voorloper van de homeopathie. Zijn blik was op een verre toekomst gericht\, waarin voor de christelijke geneeskunst geen ongeneeslijke ziekten meer zouden bestaan. \nParacelsus was rozenkruiser\, helderziende en profeet. Een aantal jaren leefde hij als rondtrekkend predikant\, en hij schreef uitgebreide Bijbelcommentaren en andere theologische verhandelingen. Als sociaal bewogen hervormer – het was de tijd van de grote boerenoorlog – pleitte hij voor een soort oercommunistische samenleving. DESCRIPTION:We leven in een wereld waarin wij mensen vaak denken dat wij afgescheiden zijn van de natuur. In werkelijkheid vormen wij echter één onlosmakelijk deel van het Ene Leven. Daarnaast heeft hij Religiestudies gestudeerd\naan de Radboud Universiteit in Nijmegen. Hij is lid van het bestuur van de TVN. \n \nOver de lezing \nDe huidige klimaat- en milieuproblematiek dwingt ons tot een bezinning op onze houding ten opzichte van de natuur. In deze lezing beschrijft Christ Tielemans verschillende houdingen die mensen kunnen hebben ten opzichte van de natuur. In tegenstelling tot in het moderne Westen\, gaan veel oude culturen en religies uit van een bezieling van alles\, van een Heilige Natuur. En dan gaat het niet alleen om planten en dieren; ook de “dode natuur” ziet men als bezield. “Je kunt niet zomaar een steen oppakken\, dan is hij drie maanden van slag”. \nHoe kijken mensen in verschillende delen van de wereld en in verschillende tijden vanuit religie en cultuur naar de natuur en de kosmos? Binnen de milieufilosofie worden de diverse houdingen ingedeeld in graden\, variërend van “despoot” tot “participant”. Wat betekenen die verschillen?\nDe verbondenheid van mens en natuur is niet alleen iets van vroeger en van wat binnen de oorspronkelijke religies en spirituele stromingen bekend was\, ook ontdekkingen in de moderne kwantumfysica wijzen uit dat alles met alles verbonden is. \nBinnen de oude wijsheid  is het uitgangspunt dat alles onderdeel is van dezelfde Bron en bezield is; de natuur is Heilig. In de meest vergaande vorm is alles en iedereen zelfs één: Oneness. \nDe eenheid van al het leven\, maar wat betekent die eenheid eigenlijk voor ons?\nOver de spreker \nMaarten Olthof (1956) is ecoloog\, zen-monnik en schrijver. Hij maakte voettochten van duizenden kilometers door India\, Nepal en Europa\, waarover hij de boeken Lopen in het voetspoor van de Boeddha en In 108 haiku’s van Utrecht naar Assisi schreef. Over zijn tochten verschenen tevens de documentaires Go without Fear en Zwerven met Franciscus. Vele honderden deelnemers namen deel aan de pelgrimstochten die hij door Azië en Europa organiseerde. \n \nIn 1997 richtte hij Stichting Vajra op voor ontwikkelingsprojecten in Nepal. De stichting bouwde onder meer tien scholen – waaronder de eerste ecologische school van Nepal – een ziekenhuis en verschillende gezondheidsposten. Ook zette hij het grootste zonneovenproject ter wereld op\, waardoor 85.000 vluchtelingen met de zon konden koken. Hiervoor ontving hij in 2019 een koninklijke onderscheiding. Regelmatig begeleidt Maarten meditaties en retraites\, zoals van 14 – 17 mei op het ITC Naarden. \nOver de lezing en aansluitende workshop \nEr wordt vaak gesproken over de eenheid van al het leven\, maar wat betekent het besef daarvan voor ons dagelijks handelen? Na een inleidende meditatie neemt ecoloog en zen-monnik Maarten Olthof je in zijn lezing mee op een reis. Een reis die bij hem op zevenjarige leeftijd begon met een mystieke ervaring waarin hij zich verbonden wist met al het andere\, en ook met het lijden in de wereld. Na zijn studie ecologie ervoer hij in meditatie dat er in het ecologisch denken een spirituele dimensie ontbreekt. Zijn inzichten leidden hem naar opmerkelijke levenskeuzes: een synthese van wetenschappelijk onderbouwde ecologie en spiritueel inzicht. Maarten gaat ook in op wat mystici zeggen over hun band met de natuur en de eenheid zoals zij die ervaren. \nUiteraard is er gelegenheid voor het stellen van vragen. \nIn de aansluitende workshop zet Maarten de deelnemers aan het werk met de vraag: hoe stem je je eigen leven af op wat de wereld nu werkelijk nodig heeft? Onder zijn begeleiding bespreken we in groepjes de bevindingen\, waarna we plenair bezien hoe we elkaar en onszelf kunnen inspireren. It offers members of the Society an opportunity to approach Theosophy as a living path of insight\, discernment\, and wisdom. \nThe School originated as the Brahmavidyā Āśrama\, founded in 1922 by Annie Besant\, J. Krishnamurti\, James H. Cousins\, C. Jinarajadasa\, and other prominent members of the Theosophical Society. After a period of inactivity\, it was reactivated in 1949 by Jinarajadasa under the name The School of the Wisdom. Since then\, it has continued to offer programmes for members of the Theosophical Society Adyar worldwide\, at the international headquarters of the Theosophical Society in Chennai\, India. \nWe are now inaugurating The School of the Wisdom Naarden (SWN)\, in accordance with the wish of the International President of the Theosophical Society\, Tim Boyd\, and under the directorship of Erica Georgiades. Several works are attributed to this name\, most notably the Yoga Sūtras\, a foundational text of the classical yoga tradition. \nThe Yoga-Sūtras \nThe Yoga-Sūtras of Patañjali constitute a foundational text of classical yoga philosophy and open with one of its most well-known and significant aphorisms\, Yoga-Sūtra I: 2: “Yogaś cittavritti-nirodhah” stating that yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind. When the mind is still\, the true Self is revealed. \nThe Programme \nThis theoretical–practical programme offers a profound and experiential introduction to the Yoga-Sūtras of Patañjali as a living science of self-knowledge and inner transformation. Rather than approaching yoga merely as a physical or wellness discipline\, the course presents it as a complete philosophical and ethical system aimed at the cessation of suffering and the awakening of consciousness. \nGrounded in both classical yoga and Theosophical perspectives\, the programme explores nine essential techniques described by Patañjali for overcoming distraction\, inner conflict\, and mental fragmentation—conditions that are particularly relevant in the fast-paced and overstimulated world we inhabit today. Participants will engage in reflective dialogues on the Yoga-Sūtras and its deep resonances with core Theosophical teachings\, including the Laws of Karma and Reincarnation\, the evolutionary journey of the soul\, and the gradual unfolding of self-knowledge. \nAccording to Patañjali and many ancient sages\, spiritual ignorance (avidyā) is the root cause of suffering and moral confusion.
